The Cottages
Glass House Cottages are the closest to the
National Park entrance, ideal for a touch of comfort and elegance
after a day exploring the Park or other attractions in the Warrumbungle
region. The cottages are set in gardens among native trees and volcanic
rocks. Kangaroos, ducks, our Highland cattle, and sometimes
more secretive creatures, are also to be seen.
Kookaburra Cottage has a three and a half star rating
from the NRMA. It is a renovated mudbrick built by the
property’s first owner. It offers a secluded retreat in great comfort
for a couple, without phone or TV reception. The walls are furnished with paintings
recalling the surroundings. Two nights in Kookaburra Cottage cost $220. Other numbers of nights are subject to a sliding scale, with the seventh night free.
Emu Cottage accommodates up to eight people. It has a four star rating
from the NRMA, offering wide verandahs and an extra touch of beauty and comfort. The cottage was the former Gallery of the Glass House, and is furnished with art works which may be purchased. The tariff is $300 for two nights for two people, with a sliding scale for more or fewer nights.
Guests are provided with a breakfast basket,
including home free-range eggs in season.
Coonabarabran
has several good eating places open in the evening.
